When you have a one-on-one coaching conversation with your team members, encourage them to:
- Develop their own learning goals.
- Explain how they will apply the lessons they have learned from past experiences to new situations.
- Try new ways of doing things.
- Recognise their preferred learning style, for example, learning by seeing, hearing or ‘hands-on’ doing.
- Take responsibility for their career development.
- Increase their skill levels by practising what they know.
